  • Sticky Welcome to Lost in France

This is a brand new *blog to try and provide anyone living in and around the Charente Maritime Region of France information about clubs and events.

If you are organising a social event such as a quiz night and would like to let people know about it please email the details to me and I'll post them on this blog.

If you know of something happening locally that you'd like to recommend to others then send me any details or links you might have.

Perhaps you can recommend a place to visit, a good restaurant or have discovered a walk you'd like to share?

Maybe you'd like to organise a walk or an outing of any kind?

Or would like to get a group of like-minded people together without having to join an organisation?

If you belong to a club or society in this area I will happily link your website here.

Why not simply let me know the things that you're interested in and who knows?

Please let your friends know about this blog.

If you want to automatically receive updates to this blog you can register your email address in the "subscription" box down the left hand column. This costs you nothing and can be cancelled at any time.

If you have an item that you want to post on this blog please email me on:- lostinfrance2@gmail.com

  • FREE Concerts

FRIDAY JUNE 19th at 8.30pm PROTESTANT CHURCH in ROYAN

SATURDAY June 20th at 5pm at St SORNIN

AMICI, an 18-voice choir from Suffolk, is paying its third visit to the area this June. The Protestant Church in Royan is in the town centre, not far from Notre-Dame Church!. The programme will include religious works (including a mass by the Spanish composer Padilla) as well as madrigals, African chants, Gershwin's "Summer Time" and a Beatles song. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome.

The Church in St Sornin is just off the Saintes to Marennes road, after Le Gua.. The main work in this concert will be a performance of the Four-part Mass by Byrd, as well as some negro spirituals and motets. Entrance again is free and will be followed by refreshments on the village green.

After leaving St Sornin the choir will be heading for La Rochelle where they will be giving two concerts the following day as part of the town's celebration of La Fete de la Musique.

AMICI's conductor, Adrian Knott, is a former conductor of the European Choir based in Brussels. He's bilingual so French friends will feel at home at these concerts!

  • Feedback

Is there anybody out there in Charente Maritime?

I started this blog on the 13th February and according to the visitors stats there have been 529 visitors and 1055 page views to date. That said, apart from a few personal friends I haven't had very much feedback as to whether or not I'm providing a useful, worthwhile service.

As I am working single-handed and voluntarily on this initiative, it would be helpful to know if it's worth my while carrying on. Constructive criticism will be appreciated.

I rely on you good folk to let me know what, if anything, you want from this blog and depend upon you to flag up anything you think others may like to hear about. If you haven't already done so please let your friends know about this blog.

As usual you can either leave a comment here or email me at:-

  • A Daily Quiz

I know that there are a number of you that enjoy going to quiz nights.

By way of something a little different I have decided to include a daily interactive quiz. Who knows it may improve your general knowledge and turn you into a "Formidable Egghead"?

New questions will appear each day, and everyone can compare scores at the link throughout the day. Try to answer questions quickly, because the quizzes are timed. The best cumulative scores at the end of the month go into the hall of fame. See you there!

To play the game you can either click here or on the link in the left hand column.
